Photographing Ynana Rose for her debut CD was magical. Beautiful light on the hillsides of the Cal Poly campus, with soulful Ynana playing her guitar, singing her own tunes, and strolling through the backcountry roads. A day to remember.

When I read the post by Andrea Scher about an upcoming retreat, I imagined myself there with a group of creative women, hearts open and spirits wide.

I immediately signed up with the encouragement of my daughter and husband. It was a date on the calendar for me to look forward to as I went through a big transition of letting go of something big, but trusting that I was ready to open myself up to something even bigger.

…and the weekend was better than i could have ever imagined.

Laurie and Andrea as our teachers, guides and healers made this a weekend I will always remember and cherish. The group of women were so deeply honest, down to earth, welcoming and supportive, more than I ever could have imagined!  Thank you to all who created and participated in Opening the Creative Channel at 27 Powers, October 4-6, 2013.

Kim the Rock Fairy

I always have a few of these with me, in a pocket, in the car, in our canoe even. These painted rocks with inspiring words are created by Kim Mailhot, also known as “Kim the Rock Fairy.” I found out about Kim through Deb Taylor, a photographer whom I’ve gotten to know through shared photography classes. Deb is an inspiring photographer, crafter, maker, and chef whose images always inspire me!!

I use these rocks in my photo shoots regularly, with Kim’s permission.
